Sandy Bay has become a seasonal epicentre for a squadron of white fronted Terns. About 80 of the little birds which some of you will know as “kahawai birds” have been gathering on the beach most days waiting for their scouts to send out a “dinner is ready” message when they discover a new school of kahawai out in the bay.
